None now...

! W E L C O M E !

I am Ururam Tururam,

the experimenting warlock.

And this is my page containing a few scenarios for

HEROES OF MIGHT AND MAGIC.

HEROES I

Here you can find several of my Heroes I maps:

  • Don Quixote. A very simple map. You play a barbarian. If you are an advanced player you may try to beat this map at the hardest difficulty level, against three geniuses, and with "King on the Hill" box checked. And make no save/load while you play it.
  • Falling Empire. Your castles are under attack. You must take back what is yours.
  • Keeper. A really peculiar map. Try it and you will see why.
  • Road of Pain. Yeah! My favorite theme. This map was the base for three maps I've made for Heroes III as well as two ones for Heroes IV. And it will be for sure the base for a few maps in the future.
  • Promiseland. A very difficult scenario this time, but probably the best I've made for HoMM 1.

HEROES II

I really do not know why I don't like Heroes of Might and Magic II. I've played this game only a little bit, and I've made no maps for it. And I don't expect I ever will... But I would not swear I really won't.

HEROES III

I have made 32 maps for Heroes III, not all I'm proud of. Nevertheless I have finally decided to publish a pseudo-campaign for Heroes III Restoration of Erathia called "Rebels". I do not think these maps are perfect, but they are not too bad when compared to the internet average. Here they are:

And here is something more (and something much more interesting too!):
  • Riders of Apocalypse. A 12-map campaign for Heroes III + Armageddon's Blade + Shadow of Death. Lead War, Flame, Hunger and Death against the Beast and the False Prophet. For now it is available only in Polish, but it is in translation. To be honest: I do not know when (and if!) I finish translating it.

HEROES IV

I have made quite a few maps for Heroes 4. The possibilities given by the H4 editor are really broad. My published scenarios for the fourth path of the series follow:

  • Dusk of Technics. A single scenario placed in a post-nuclear world taken from the "Fallout" game series. "Normal" people and ghouls fight for their new homes. But a menace of another great war appears... And war never changes. This is a two-player map. It can also be played in a single player mode. No Heroes IV expansions necessary.
  • Pirates L.T.D. A single XL-sized scenario for 1 to 3 players. Three clans of pirates are fighting for glory... To earn glory points you must fight, destroy buildings, frighten citizens etc. Very nonstandard victory/loss conditions. Lots of scripts (101 events defined in main campaign properties, many local events). No Heroes IV expansions necessary.
  • Emperor's game. Just to allow you taking a deeper breath after playing two previous (quite sophisticated) maps, I propose you a very simple one. Well, it's simple when compared to other my creations... This is a battle-rich 4 players scenario (2 vs 2), something ideal for players who want to fight against living enemies (and to cooperate with living allies too!). The gameplay resembles chess a little bit. Requires patch 2.0 or higher. No Heroes IV expansions necessary.
  • The Saga of Depierrelles, part I. A five map campaign including two XL maps. Depierrelles (pronounce it as if it were a French name, stressing "rel") is a half-elf, quarter-man, quarter-orc. In this campaign you will see him as a young bard and adventurer. Explore unknown lands and seas, help the poor, complete quests, find your way through a huge maze, hunt treasures! No expansions necessary, requires patch 2.0 or higher.
  • Angels are Back. Lead angelic forces against the powers of evil. Angels were out for far too long. Now they are back. Fight the evil forces and restore former glory and splendor of your world.
Be very careful setting the difficulty level! Read the attached text file first. Map requires Heroes IV + Winds of War.
This scenario won the first prize (Royal Knight) and the community prize (Hero's Crown) in the "Gloria" competition on the MapHaven Site.
  • 3 Shields. After a fall of a barbarian empire (destroyed by demons) three rulers figt for the throne. A multiplayer map - two or three players showing that a multiplayer map with a time limit (and a possiblity of a draw!) can be good. Map requires Heroes IV + Winds of War.
  • MirrorrorroiM. A very simple and small battle map. Designed for tournament duels, but also playable in a singleplayer mode. Your heroes face the danger of the mirror Universe. Requires Heroes IV + Winds of War.
  • Around the Calendar. A large, heavily scripted map with an underground layer. You play a hero called Year and you are to restore order in time itself. Later on you will be aid by four other heroes - the Seasons. Lots of missions, quests and additional tasks. You have seven foes here - five AI players, time and you yourself. Be sure to read the attached text file! Requires Heroes IV Winds of War.
  • Champion's Helmet. A quasi-mirror duel map. A few ballancing scripts make playing in single mode interesting too. Winning this map against the computer playing on expert or champion settings may be really hard! Requires Heroes IV + Winds of War.
  • New Found Land. This exploration scenario is played on a map based on the actual shape of the island of... New Foundland! Will the survivors from the ship called "Figgy Duff" be able to restore the glory of an ancient kingdom? The island is populated by elves and barbarians and attacked by pirates and the undead. The map requires Heroes IV + Winds of War. You may also wish to download the German version of this scenario (translated by Koni).
  • Song of the Wraith. A single player map where you are to play the undead. Based on a dramma "Dziady" ("The Forefathers") by Adam Mickiewicz (a Polish poet of 19th century). Gustavus Conradus raises as a wraith to take his revenge on senator Novossiltzoff. Map requires Heroes IV + Winds of War.There is also a German translation of this map made by Koni.
  • The saga of Depierrelles, part II. Project cancelled. The quality of maps was not satisfactory for me. You may, however, expect the second part as a campaign for Heroes V. The incomplete version is available on the Polish subpage.

Caution! Some Heroes IV maps (not only mine and not all of mine) make troubles when loaded into the game the first time. They generate messages like: "File is corrupted" or "Fatal error". If this happens, one should not exit the game but just select again new game / new scenario / the map. This will work in most cases.

Will I make more maps for Heroes IV? I don't think so, but who knows... If you want to try to make a Heroes IV scenario yourself, you may find this set of 36 object brushes I have created useful. I used them a lot making my maps.

HEROES V

What should I say?... I update my web page bringing bad news: the cartographic aspect of Heroes V have disappointed me. In fact the whole game is a step backwards when compared to Heroes IV. So - after a few attempts - I decided not to publish my H5 maps as I'm not satisfied with them. Maybe I'll try again with the expansion? And maybe I'll wait for Heroes VI to come? Well, we will see.

Summary of my mapmaking activities:

Game Maps created Maps published
Heroes I 12 5
Heroes II SW 0 0
Heroes II PoL 0 0
Heroes III RoE 11 10
Heroes III AB 8 0
Heroes III SoD 13 12
Heroes IV 9 8
Heroes IV TGS 2 0
Heroes IV WoW 20 14
Heroes V 3 0
Heroes V HoF 0 0
TOTAL 78 49

Caution! I do not make maps to fan-made mods for Heroes games (Wake of Gods for Heroes III and Equilibris for Heroes IV) and I think I won't do it. I prefer sticking to genuine games.

EXTRAS:

Ururam's Mapmaking Doctorates

In an agreement with DragonSister, the webmaster of the MapHaven site, to honor the cartographers I owe my respect, I have established my own mapmaking award called "Ururam's Mapmaking Doctorate". I grant the Doctorates to persons whose maps allowed me to learn something more about the editor so far. The rules are:

  1. I graduate a person for a map. This means that in a given category (by now Heroes IV is the only one) one person can get the prize only once.
  2. The map has to be available on MapHaven.
  3. The map has to be played (and enjoyed!) by either me myself or my wife who plays much more than I do.
  4. The most important thing: When analyzing the map in the editor I must find something extraordinary in - something that really amazes me. That means that as time passes getting this award becomes harder and harder since my knowledge of the editor grows.
The laudations follow:
  • I graduate kevyip for The End of the World. It was the first H4 map I know that has been using so many editor features - with really good results. It is an old map but still worth seing and playing.
  • I graduate Humakt The Ruthless for Trapped Inside the Beast. In this scenario all the elements of mapmaking fit each other exceptionally well.
  • I graduate wimfrits for A Wind of Thorns. The usage of complex scripts and carryover variables is impressive.
  • I graduate Uffe Eriksen for The Gambler. The new gambling skill is clever and it fits the main theme well.
All the maps and campaigns mentioned here can be downloaded from the MapHaven site (link above).

If you want to contact me - send me an email.
I'm looking forward to seeing remarks and reviews of my maps.
If you want I can send you emails about my new scenarios as soon as they are online.
